APK from GitHub Releases
The official build from Nirvana Team. Each release lists its version, changes and SHA-256 checksum.
Recommended. Compare the file's SHA-256 with the one printed in the release notes. How to check it.
Allow installs from your browser or file manager
Open the downloaded file. Android will ask you to allow installs from the app you used to open it. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back. The exact words vary by phone maker.
Install
Tap Install. Google Play Protect may offer to scan the app or show a warning, because Arivna is not on Google Play yet. You can let it scan.
Open Arivna, and make it your default if you like
To open every link in Arivna: Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Browser app, then pick Arivna. You can turn "Allow from this source" off again afterwards.
Verify the download
Check the SHA-256 checksum.
A checksum is a fingerprint of the file. If the one you calculate matches the one on the release page exactly, your APK is the file we published, unchanged.
The commands below use the file name of version 1.0.0; change it if you downloaded another version. The result is 64 letters and digits; compare all of them with the SHA-256 in the release notes. Capital or small letters do not matter.
Termux needs termux-setup-storage once to see your Downloads folder.
If the checksum does not match, do not install the file. Delete it, download it again from the official releases page, and if it still does not match, write to us at contactus@arivna.com.
Updates
Staying up to date.
Filter lists update by themselves
Shield downloads fresh lists once a day, so blocking stays current without a new app version.
The APK does not update itself
To hear about new versions, follow the releases page (on GitHub: Watch → Custom → Releases) or read the changelog. Install the newer APK over the old one; your tabs, bookmarks and settings stay.
Moving to Google Play later
Android only installs an update over an app signed with the same key. If the Play version is signed differently from your APK, Android will ask you to uninstall the APK first, which removes Arivna's data on the phone. We will say on the changelog when this applies.
Arivna is open source. You can read the code and build it yourself from github.com/viroaryan/arivna-browser; the build steps are in its README.
