Legal
Terms of use
The rules for using Arivna Browser and this website, in plain English. Arivna is free and open source; these terms do not take away any right the open-source licence gives you.
Effective date: 24 October 2026
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the Arivna Browser app for Android (com.arivna.browser) and to this website. They are offered by Nirvana Team, India ("we", "us"). By installing or using Arivna, or using this website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or the site.
2. Licence and source code
Arivna Browser is free software. Its source code is published at github.com/viroaryan/arivna-browser under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or (at your option) any later version (GPL-3.0-or-later). You may use, study, copy, share and modify it under that licence. If you distribute a modified version, the GPL requires you to make its source available under the same licence.
If anything in these terms conflicts with the GPL for the app's code, the GPL wins. These terms add rules about using our name and our services; they do not restrict the freedoms the GPL gives you.
3. Third-party components
Arivna includes components made by others, each under its own licence. The most visible are the filter lists used by Arivna Shield (from uBlock Origin, EasyList, AdGuard, Peter Lowe, URLhaus and Fanboy), plus Rust crates, Android libraries and icons. The full list, with authors and licences, is in NOTICE.md in the source repository. Pages are drawn by Android System WebView, which is provided by Google or your phone maker and is not part of Arivna.
4. Price and updates
Arivna is free. It has no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. We may release updates, change features or stop developing the app at any time. Filter lists update from their maintainers' servers, which we do not control.
5. Acceptable use
Use Arivna and this website lawfully. In particular, do not use them to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright;
- attack, overload or gain unauthorised access to any system or account;
- distribute malware;
- distribute a modified version of the app under the Arivna name or logo, or in a way that suggests it is our official release (the GPL lets you share modified code; our trademarks are a separate matter, see section 10).
Security research done in good faith and reported to us privately is welcome; see the transparency page.
6. Third-party websites and services
Arivna is a browser: almost everything you see in it comes from websites we do not own or control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, safety or privacy practices, and opening a site in Arivna does not mean we endorse it. Search engines, filter list servers, icon services, speech recognition and Android System WebView are run by third parties under their own terms.
7. Ad and tracker blocking
Arivna Shield blocks many ads, trackers and known harmful addresses using public filter lists. It cannot block everything, and blocking can occasionally break part of a site. You can switch protection off for any site from the site info sheet. Whether you block ads on a website is your decision; some websites ask visitors not to, and you are responsible for following any terms you have agreed to with them.
8. No warranty
Arivna and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure against every threat, or that it will block any particular ad or tracker. This matches the "Disclaimer of Warranty" in the GPL.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Nirvana Team and its members are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Arivna or this website. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app; Arivna is free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Trademarks
"Arivna", the Arivna logo and "Nirvana Team™" are trademarks of Nirvana Team. The GPL licence for the code does not grant permission to use them. You may refer to Arivna by name to describe it truthfully (for example in a review or a news article). Please do not use our names or logo for your own products, for modified builds, or in a way that suggests we endorse or made something we did not. Other names and logos mentioned on this site (such as Android, Google Play, Chromium, GitHub, uBlock Origin, EasyList and AdGuard) belong to their owners.
11. Privacy
How the app and website handle data is explained in our privacy policy. In short: no account, no analytics, no ads, and your browsing data stays on your phone.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them, without taking away any protection you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live. Before going to court, please write to us; most problems can be solved by email.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continuing to use Arivna after a change means you accept the new terms.
